Maheen Kamran, 18, has been elected as a councillor for Burnley Central East with 1,357 votes.
Ms Kamram has reportedly said that she would encourage the prevention of “free mixing” between Muslim men and women in public spaces.
Reform UK candidate Gavin Theaker came second with 1,089 votes
Labour's Hannah Till could only muster 485 votes.
